In April 2019, I spent a week in Argyll, leaving Adrian studying blacksmithing while I enjoyed days of solitude, wandering through ancient native forests, sketchbook and camera in hand. This painting is a memory of a sweet encounter with a deer while taking a break and soaking up the spring sunshine. "Road back home" pretty much sums up the view out

"Road back home" pretty much sums up the view out of the passenger window for a lot of the journey down the eastern side of the Rhins of Galloway. On one level this is based on visits to many of my local beaches, but it also has a deeper meaning of finding my way back to myself and my creativity after a long break.

The sea is my constant backdrop these days and this painting captures both the delight that my current views offer me and long cherished memories of travelling to the sea with all the carefree joy and excitement of a young child.

Although twilight is most commonly used to refer to evening, it also applies to that time in the morning before the sun has risen when the land is barely perceptible due to the dim light. Living on the western side of a bay means I get to witness sunrises at all different times of the year, with sunsets a short drive across the peninsula to the western coast. Whether the sun is rising or setting, I feel a deep peace and connection to nature in witnessing both.

Spring Fling has been rescheduled to October and m

Spring Fling has been rescheduled to October and myself and Linda Irving Felt Artist will be open for the whole week. We have both been open since July, and follow all government guidelines regarding Covid, so we are confident that your visit will be as safe as is possible.

The rescheduled Spring Fling will take place from 5-12 October 2020, with an extensive online digital programme open to all audiences. The organisers are delighted to present Virtual Studios for the first time which will allow audiences to virtually enter around 80 studios on the website, with the aim of replicating the ‘studio’ as much as possible.

Other studios that can open will do so following Government Guidelines and will have a focus on local audiences. These studios plan to open during the weekend of the 10-12th October but opening hours will vary. For information visit the website, https://www.spring-fling.co.uk/.
